#DesignMazeTravel ~ Motel One Munich
Hello Tuesday! Hope you all had a fantastic Labour Day long weekend ... and a great summer. Yours truly took a month off travelling in Europe (you can see more of my travel on Instagram) and to kick start September, this week is all about my favorite hot spots in Munich, Germany.
So you have booked your flight and now it's time to look for accommodation. If your travel destination is Munich, I strongly recommend you to check out Motel One. Known for its impeccable design aesthetic, extremely attractive pricing, and super convenient locations, the award winning budget design hotel brand is now in many major cities in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and the UK. For my 4-day visit in Munich, Munich-Deutsches Museum Motel One was where I called my home.
Noticed the reflective finish on the ceiling? With a cool Space exploration theme in the lounge, the design team has successfully created an illusion of "Space" with its infinite ceiling reaching to the stars. And if you look down, you may noticed you have just landed on the moon!

I wasn't kidding when I said Motel One is one design savvy hotel brand. Check out this dynamite Ingo Maurer paper chandelier for a bold statement, and don't you just love those hot lipstick red loungers?
The buffet breakfast at Motel One is delicious (healthy and nutritious) and what an inviting, welcoming space to energize and to jump start a day of adventure right? The tufted leather detail on the chairs / banquettes, the pendants suspected from the ceiling, and the gun metal grey accent on windows and tables, I simply couldn't get enough!
Aside from the finishing touches, I was also inspired by the clever solutions to disguise the food and drink stations after breakfast hours. Yes, an entire coffee, juices, pastry station is neatly hidden behind these decorative wall panels!
From morning coffee to lounge hours with cocktails, here is one sexy space to hang out with friends! Igor we are staying in next time!
From lighting to seating, this sophisticated lounge is packed with design icons and I spied one of my all-time favorite side tables: Pli by Victoria Wilmotte.

Aside from its prime location and sleek interior decorations, a big reason I decided to stay at the Munich-Deutsches Museum location was because of this serene and calm patio. Seamlessly organized into zones with a tranquil water fountain for an ultimate Zen experience, this was where I enjoyed my breakfast and relaxed after a day around town.
Before I show you my bedroom and the breathtaking views, I have one more spot to share: the Library. Dressed in Motel One signature color palette, who wouldn't want to a hang out here if one must spend some time on the computer?
In fact, I actually sat at this exact spot with a glass of Hugo (champagne infused with elderflower aroma) waiting from Chris to arrive after his hiking trip.
At last my bedroom: compact in size with a lookout of the patio AND a million dollar view of all the landmarks of Munich! What more could I ask for right, especially when the room is also equipped with a pair of Tolomeo wall sconces?
Are you planning a trip to Europe? Before you book your home away from home, check if there is a Motel One near you!
