2018 Holiday Special ~ Artisan Edition
Hello Thursday and welcome to my artisan inspired gift guide for Christmas 2018! This is a vignette I created a few years back for Style at Home (stunningly captured by Stacey), I love that it is vibrant and daring, yet cozy and calm thanks to the showstopping wallpaper (classic pattern with a new twist), the mix of patterns and textures, and the fantastic artisan touches throughout.
Speaking about artisan touches, the adorable felt birdies on the tree are from pi'lo and Heather is having an open studio sale this weekend. DM Heather for details.
Now back to Christmas 2018, here is the checklist I am sending to Santa this year. All locally sourced or made by artisans in Toronto, I couldn't be more proud to live in a city that celebrates creativity, diversity, and style!
Alanna Cavanagh
You all know I love Alanna (doesn't that pear just put a smile on your face) and on top of her holiday card collections, one new print, SUNDAY, is now available on her shop. I have added it to my collection and you should too before it is sold out!
Note: Alanna is having an open house + holiday sale this weekend from 1pm to 6pm. Don't miss it!
DA Ceramics
Could one ever have too many vases? I guess the answer for me is NO! Handmade by Dasha in Toronto, these simple and organic creations had me at hello. The narrow opening also makes it much easier to arrange blooms (tip from a non-floral pro who loves flowers).
Coincidence or not, DA Ceramics is also having a Holiday Ceramics Sale this weekend from 11am to 4pm at The Shop.
On that note, I still can't believe I am out of town this weekend and will miss all my favourite open houses!!
SOUVENIR
Moving on .... SOUVENIR is a beautiful shop curated by Danielle and Trisha showcasing the work of emerging designers, makers, and artists. "... modern, innovative, accessible, beautifully executed", it is such a treat to enter the store and just be inspired. The vassel in bisque white and the circle sculpture are on my list!

Situated in the hip Queen West neighbourhood, average made a striking first impression on IG and I was in heaven when I visited the store a few weeks ago. Filled with streamlined, contemporary designs, I was particularly drawn to the brand, Please Wait to be Seated, and now I am obsessed with the blooper lamp and the wall boxes!

For all you urban jungle lovers, DYNASTY bridged the gap between plant nursery and modern design. I love popping into the store for one of a kind pots / vases or small batch, handmade collections by talented artisans. The planters from SPADONE HOME are not to be missed.

From lighting fixtures, sculptures, to everyday objects, Shane of Mercury Bureau explores the uniqueness and characteristics of the materials he uses in his creations. I had the pleasure to visit Shane's former studio (a post long overdue) and learned a lot about his creative process and the making of his collections. His latest, Vide poche No 04 is surely a keeper!

My last stop on this Toronto artisan tour is Flur, a contemporary floral studio with an amazing collection of ceramics and planters. From the Power Planters by Chen Chen & Kai Williams,
Gather Vases by Super Good Thing, and porcelain vases by Alissa Coe, I similar want them all .... this Christmas!
