One Room Challenge Spring 2021 ~ Top Favorites

Hello everyone and welcome to One Room Challenge Spring 2021! Time truly flies and it seems like yesterday when I was on overdrive to finish Chris’ living room and kitchen in spring and his bedroom in the fall. With Toronto under lockdown / stay at home order since November 2020 (just partially reopened finally!), it surely is inspiring to see these incredible transformations and the designers’ perseverance to turn the vision to life while battling with COVID restrictions and logistical challenges.

BRAVO featured designers and guest participants, you all did it!!

Sashi’s crisp, contemporary yet warm and inviting aesthetic caught my eye with her bathroom challenge. We quickly connected on IG and her kitchen reno totally blew my mind! Being the incredible DIY extraordinaire herself + her husband has completely reimagined their master bedroom and ensuite (I am so jealous of the vaulted ceiling and the skylights in the bathroom) in their signature style: neutrals serenity + appreciation of natural materials.

Speaking about bedroom, this chic blue and white guest bedroom / home office by Olive Tree Interiors is just perfect for the spring challenge. Who doesn’t love a stylish nautical vibe with pops of green accent after a long cold winter and can you believe this makeover was done just over $500!! My personal favorite elements: the grain-sack wallpaper + trim work, the leather / terracotta in picture hanging and accessories, and the black bed frame!

This super fun rental bedroom checks all the boxes for me: soft color palette (crazy about that bright canary yellow), graphic geometic elements, the use of natural materials, and a hidden reveal (can you spot the secret?). I am now going to check out all the DIY projects by Benson Dwelling!

Given my love of neutral spaces, natural wood elements, and graphic whimsy and arched designs, it is no surprise I am fan of this mind-blowing den (once a garage) by Brit Dot Design. LOVE the ceiling moulding details, the fab custom furniture (isn’t that daybed to die for), the pair of velvet chairs, and how about those big round knobs on the pink doors for some extra fun?

And for a fantastic family hangout with loads of storage, you have to check out Tiffany of Pretty Real Blog. I love her blend of warm earthy taupes and how good it looks pairing with the crisp pinstripe drapery, the wall of built-ins, and my favorite has got to be this game table corner with the perfect mix of traditional classics + sleek modern statements. Oh yeah, that feather-inspired art is perfect for that spot!

Powder room is the best place to go all out with what your heart desires. It’s generally a small space where bold design statement really goes a long way and I couldn’t agree more with this beautiful transformation by Two Twenty One. From a generic builder basic powder room to OH WOW. I also love Chelsea’s styling and how she makes even the toilet looks like a design statement.

Another stunning bathroom transformation comes from Haneen’s Haven and you really have to hop over to check out all the details. From the genius use of corbels to create architectural presence, the antique arched doors installed as sliding barn door (how clever) to those roman blinds from Calico Corners + Haneen’s styling (I can’t resist vessel with branches), it was love at first sight!

Bathroom #3 is from MidWest Eclectic. What a serene and charming bathroom and I am so jealous of the real estate to create the spa-like shower / tub retreat. The two tones tile combination and the subtle color variation of the tiles took my breath away. What a huge added value to the property and how fully functional it is for the home owner. Double wins for a job well done!

Ok ok by now you know I am obsessed with beautiful bathrooms but we have to stop by Home EC.!! Natalie knocked it out of the park with her simple yet absolutely sensational tile application to create this stunning stripe effect in her bathroom. A bonus with extra ceiling height: bring in nature + address that 5th wall with wallpaper and not having to worry about water splashes! The sconces, the double arch mirrors, and the custom vanity, what’s not to love?

Last but not least, hat off to Stephanie, my fellow Torontonian, who finished and furnished her fabulous outdoor oasis amidst the horrible COVID third wave. What a smart way to use this space by creating distinct yet visually connected zones by repeating finishes and textural elements. The black accents throughout add extra visual interests / weights to this dreamy cloud of neutrals + white. Who doesn’t want to hang out here all summer long?

Congrats again to all the designers and participants for a beautiful round of transformations. Thank you Linda for hosting One Room Challenge even during the global pandemic to inspire us to create the homes of our dreams, one room at a time!

Can’t wait to the Fall 2021 Challenge!
