One Room Challenge Fall 2020 ~ Week 1
Hello Wednesday and welcome to Week 1 of One Room Challenge Fall 2020. For new friends visiting Design Maze, my name is Tim Lam and I am an interior decorator based in Toronto Canada. This is my 7th One Room Challenge makeover (time truly flies when you’re having fun) and I will be tackling the last room at Chris’ condo: a blank canvas, classic builder basic bedroom.
Here are my previous #ORC makeovers:
kitchen / dining room / guest bedroom / powder room / home office / lounge / bathroom / living room
It’s no secret that I love grasscloth wallpapers. The texture is subtle, the sheen is luminous, and the transformation is absolutely breathtaking. I particularly love it when the grasscloth wallpaper is installed on all walls for a luxurious and cocoon effect in every space. These two are my favorite inspirations in texture and color.
Headboard is one of the key statement items in a bedroom and I love the sleek, sophisticated approach in these two super stylish spaces. Upholstered headboard or striking slat details, I will share more in Week 2.
Working with the builder during the pre-construction stage means I was able to make one request: NO CLOSET PLEASE. Most standard builder closets are generally not very efficient in maximizing practical storage and my goal is to pack in as much storage in this bedroom as possible. As you can see, I am debating over a full wall of closed storage (love the mirror details to visually expand the space) or a combination of closed storage and display space.
While we are on built-in, I am super drawn to these sensational full height arch doors. I will have to work that detail into my room somehow without breaking the bank. Stay tuned to see what I have come up with next.
That’s it for Week 1. Hope you enjoy the rooms that inspired me and I can’t wait to share my design plan and room progress over the next 6 weeks on One Room Challenge. Be sure to check out the 20 Featured Designers on their virtual rooms and all the guest participants as we kick off Week 1 of Fall 2020 ORC!
