One Room Challenge Fall 2022 ~ Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of One Room Challange Fall 2022! Is it just me or everyone feels that no matter how much planning you did in advance, you are still down to the wire for the 8 weeks challenge? Where did the time go really? Here is a quick recap of what we have done so far:

week 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

This handsome, sophisticated space by Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent is warm, inviting, and full of treasured elements to make the room super special. Although I am aiming for a slightly more traditional design aesthetic at my dad’s foyer, that sense of welcome, elegance, and an eclectic mix of furnishings & accessories to give the room its character and soul.

Let’s start with some artwork. Framed artwork in design stores generally starts at $200 a piece. Ones similar to this set of four featuring real feathers in beautiful shadow box can easily go for over $1000. Can you believe I found these at HomeSense for $24.99 a piece? YES I got them for $100 + tax for the set!

I am so happy with how they turned out. Each feather has its distinct personality, and the set really has a curated look, especially when they are being showcased with the stunning grasscloth wallpaper from York Wallcoverings as backdrop.

Couldn’t help myself to do a little styling here to make sure I have everything I need for the reveal. We are 90% there in the foyer!

Now let’s turn our attention to the living room. We are still waiting for a couple of key elements (fingers crossed they are here next week) and if you’ve noticed, we are missing a pair of wall sconces to complete the fireplace feature wall.

For instant luxe without being over the top (and be mindful of the budget book), I fell in love with this Astr white onyx sconce. The subtle variations of cream and white with a hint of apricot caught my eyes AND for $150 a piece, I simply couldn’t pass them up.

I visited the store to see how the sconce actually looks. After all, it’s a natural stone product so coloration + veining could vary significantly. The display model is mainly creamy white with light veining detail. It’s perfect for the room but the sconce was backordered. Luckily a pair came through just in time and they will be installed this week.

Another last-minute item I set in motion is this vintage lounge chair. Classic traditional in design and solidly constructed, this chair is waiting for her Cinderella moment. I actually quite like the color of the original fabric, but the diamond tufted back just not quite my cup of tea.

Not successful in finding that perfect not-too-orange and not-too-red fabric, PLUS being available immediately for my upholsterer, I dug into my own fabric collection and found some serene neutrals for the task.

No more diamond tufting and in with 2 simple buttons for a more modern vibe, I love it when my upholster guy sends me images re: pattern option on buttons. Love his attention to details and he reads my mind!

I always looking for ways to add interest and excitement in my rooms, especially the ones full of neutrals. I am obsessed with the KW Linden table lamp for its elegance and whimsical touch.

Either pairing up on a console or as a single table lamp next to a chair / sofa, this hot ticket item rises up to challenge and is an instant showstopper.

So could you imagine my excitement when I found this beauty in a similar look (minus the matte finish and a brass base) for much less at HomeSense?

Great in scale and she sits beautifully at this corner. Thank you HomeSense!

That’s it for Week 6! Now I better get ready to cross the finish line in 2 short weeks + cheer on my fellow participants on their process on One Room Challenge!
